The Following mission statement was adopted by the Board of Directors on September 14, 1999 and revised May 23, 2002.
Doctors Injury Network is an alliance of Healthcare Professionals dedicated to the care of the injured while providing ethical management of their medical/legal concerns.
- Member doctors are dedicated to the care of injured workers in a cost efficient and timely fashion.
- The objective of care rendered is to return the injured worker to gainful employment/activities of daily living as soon as possible, avoiding chronicity and dependence on passive care.
- Our goal is to communicate with all parties involved including the injured worker, employer, and insurer to expedite proper case management in a timely fashion.
- Member doctors are to place the patient's welfare, rights and confidentiality issues above all other considerations.
- Use of experimental therapeutic and diagnostic procedures is prohibited and is subject to disciplinary action by the board of directors.
- Member doctors undergo rigors training in the area of workers compensation and are encouraged to attend continuing education courses leading to QME status.
- Member doctors are expected to follow nationally accepted and approved clinical guidelines when treating injured workers. The treating doctor is expected to follow certain utilization management protocols, including retroactive and concurrent utilization review procedures.
- Member doctors agree to charge reasonable fees for their services, which conform to community standards and established medical fee schedules.
- Member doctors are equally opposed to both over utilization as well as under utilization practices. This goal is achieved by the MANDATORY use of PATIENT OUTCOMES TOOLS as a general guide to continue or discontinue care.
- Quality control and cost containment are achieved through the use of concurrent case management protocols.
- Member doctors to provide short-term conservative management to patients with neuro-musculo-skeletal injuries. Member doctors are required to refer those cases which are not appropriate candidates to conservative management to the most appropriate and skilled clinician.
- Member doctors are required to maintain complete patient files. These documents shall be made available for inspection at the request of third parties, provided that patient confidentiality laws are not violated.
- DIN board of directors to establish an advisory committee to act as the liaison between patients, employers/payors and the treating chiropractor.
